Samsung's tiny wireless earbuds – the Gear IconX – were made available on Samsung's website back in mid-July, but you can now buy them on Amazon as well. The price is the same, at $199, but it shouldn't be too long before we start seeing some sales now they're on the world's largest online marketplace.
Don't miss: Best Bluetooth earbuds of 2016
The Gear IconX are a 'truly wireless' set of earbuds. I say 'set' because they're not really a 'pair' because they are completely disconnected from one another. Unlike many other wireless headphones, the two buds are not connected with any cables at all, meaning they're lighter but also easier to lose. If you think you can keep track of both buds, though, they offer some pretty serious lightweight sports audio.
They feature a built-in hear rate monitor and fitness tracker, in-ear voice guidance, Bluetooth 4.1 LE, 4 GB of internal storage (up to 1000 songs), sweat and splash resistance, 7.84 ounce weight, Ambient Sound Mode and come in black, white and blue color options. You can control playback via buttons on the buds themselves or via a paired smartphone.
You'll get around 1.5 hours for music streamed over Bluetooth and around 3.5 hours for locally stored audio
On the music playback side, you'll get around 1.5 hours for music streamed over Bluetooth and around 3.5 hours for locally stored audio. The included carrying case also doubles as a charger, which will let you recharge the buds twice before needing charging itself. They play nicely with S Health but also other third-party fitness trackers if you're not down with Samsung's health app.
