Update, Nov 29:
The ongoing collaboration between Coolpad and LeEco has borne more fruit today, as the companies have just announced their new Cool Changer 1C smartphone in China. Weird name I know. While the handset bears a number of resemblances to LeEco's handset range, there's not much in the way of company branding on the handset,. You'll only find a small 'LeEco inside' tag written on the back.
In terms of hardware, the smartphone is pretty much identical to the Cool1 handset previously released under the partnership. The phone is powered by a 5.5-inch 1080p display, an octa-core Snapdragon 652 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, and a microSD card slot. There's only a single 13 megapixel rear camera on this model though, which is accompanied by an 8 megapixel snapper on the front. Sadly there's no NFC circuitry onboard, but customers will be pleased to note the inclusion of 5V/2A fast charging over the USB Type-C port, which supports LeEco's CDLA digital audio technology in place of a 3.5mm headphone jack, and VoLTE functionality.
The new Cool Changer 1C is priced at just 899 Yuan (approx $130 / Rs. 9,000) in China. Eager customers can pre-register for sales already, but the phone won't officially hit shelves until December 5th. There's no word on if the Cool Changer 1C will appear in markets outside of China yet.
Original, Nov 21:
Coolpad and LeEco are collaborating again after the launch of their first joint smartphone, the Cool1 Dual, in August this year. The two companies partnered after Jia Yueting, CEO of LeEco, took over as Coolpad's Chairman in August. The upcoming smartphone could reportedly be called just 'Cool' and recently passed through China's certification website TENAA.
According to a TENAA listing spotted by GizmoChina, 'Cool' sports a 5.5-inch Full HD display powered by a 2.35GHz Snapdragon 821 with 4GB and 6GB RAM options, and multiple storage variants – 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB. The device will be powered by a 4000mAh battery. The Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow smartphone will come with a dual rear camera setup packing in a 16-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front shooter.
With looks similar to the Le Pro 3, the Cool smartphone will be available in several color options like gold, white, silver, blue, and black. No other details are known at the moment, although since the device has been certified, it could be launched soon enough.
