Huawei has reportedly revealed a list of devices set to soon receive the EMUI 8.0 update. According to mysmartprice, which didn't provide a source, Huawei has confirmed that the software will be rolling out for some phones from tomorrow (June 30).
EMUI 8.0 is based on Android Oreo and it's on its way to both Huawei and Honor handsets. It will land on the Huawei P9, Huawei P9 Plus, and Huawei Mate 8 first before heading to the Honor 8, Honor Note 8, Honor V8, and the Honor Play 6X.
The Huawei P9 had been apparently ruled out for the update earlier this week, so the latest revelations should please owners of that handset. On the downside, we don't yet know if this is for China only — though it's likely starting there, given the device list and that it's Huawei's home soil. It's said that Huawei is rolling out the update to only 20,000 units in the early stages.
Even if the rollout begins in China, however, it shouldn't be long before we see it in other territories.
We've reached out to Huawei for more details regarding the rollout and will update our story should we receive a response. On the other hand, if you're through with EMUI, take a look at our coverage of the OpenKirin project that brings stock Android ROMs to Huawei and Honor phones.
