Motorola announced today that the 5G Moto Mod will be compatible with the Moto Z2 Force sometime this summer. The 5G Moto Mod is currently only compatible with the Moto Z3. The Mod will also be compatible with the new Moto Z4, which was just launched today.

Because the 5G Moto Mod only works with Verizon's 5G network, so only the Moto Z2 Force on Verizon is compatible. Also, Verizon's 5G network is nascent and is only available in two cities across the U.S. as of this writing. Verizon will expand its 5G network to more cities over time, but we don't know how fast or slow that rollout is.
We also don't know how many Moto Z2 Force owners will jump at this, seeing how the phone is almost two years old.
That said, the 5G Moto Mod is currently the most affordable way for Moto Z3 owners to experience 5G. Normally going for $199.99, the 5G Moto Mod can be yours for $49.99 with a $150 instant discount. Also, Verizon waives the $10-per-month charge if you have an Above or Beyond Unlimited plan.
The 5G Moto Mod features its own 2,000mAh battery that promises up to 24 hours of use and 12 days of standby time. There's even a USB-C port for charging and the Snapdragon X24 modem for improved 4G LTE speeds.
