Editor's note: We will update this list regularly as new Android phones in India launch.
1-2. Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10 Plus
The top of the line variant of Samsung's latest Note series smartphones is unsurprisingly one of the best smartphones you can buy in India. The Galaxy Note 10 Plus comes with everything that has made the Note so popular, and is one of the best Android phones you can get thanks to a great mix of features, performance, and beautiful design.
For those who love the S Pen, the Note 10 Plus continues to excel. This time around, the S Pen even gets a few new tricks like gesture controls that let you do things like control your smartphone camera remotely just by waving your hand in certain ways. The Galaxy Note 10 Plus may be one of the most expensive smartphones currently available, but is worth every penny, especially for a power user.
If you're looking to save a few bucks, the regular Galaxy Note 10 is a great alternative. There are a few compromises along the way — you don't get as much RAM, the display is smaller and has a lower resolution, the battery has a lower capacity and doesn't charge as fast, and the camera setup is missing a TOF (time of flight) unit. If you're okay without this, you can save at least 10,000 rupees with the Note 10.
Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus specs:
- Display: 6.8-inch, Quad HD+
- SoC: Exynos 9825
- RAM: 12GB
- Storage: 256/512GB
- Rear cameras: 12MP, 12MP, 16MP, and TOF
- Front camera: 10MP
- Battery: 4,300mAh
- Software: Android 9.0 Pie
Samsung Galaxy Note 10 specs:
- Display: 6.8-inch, Full HD+
- SoC: Exynos 9825
- RAM: 8GB
- Storage: 256GB
- Rear cameras: 12MP, 12MP, and 16MP
- Front camera: 10MP
- Battery: 3,500mAh
- Software: Android 9.0 Pie
3-4. OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro
OnePlus jumped into true flagship territory earlier this year with the OnePlus 7 Pro, and the regular OnePlus 7 almost fell by the wayside. With its mid-year "T" iterations, OnePlus has definitely flipped the script. Many will argue that the regular OnePlus 7T is the more enticing option of the company's latest releases.
The 7T gets all the features that made the Pro versions so good. A 90Hz display and an upgraded processor lend to the phone's ultra-smooth feel. The updated triple-rear camera system is one of the best you can get in its price range. And then there's the price point.
To put it in context, the 7T is around 13,000 rupees cheaper than the 7T Pro, and more than 30,000 rupees than the Galaxy Note 10 (not even the Plus). Only Xiaomi has pushed the boundaries of price vs specs more (see below), but the 7T has its fair share of advantages over the Redmi flagship.
That's not to say that the 7T Pro isn't fantastic. It's, unfortunately, a minor upgrade over the 7 Pro, and you will be fine if you get the latter. Compared to the 7T, the Pro version offers a larger and higher resolution display, a slightly larger battery, and an all-screen front that I personally prefer. Whether that's worth the extra chunk of money is up to you.
OP 7T Pro specs:
- Display: 6.67-inch, Quad HD+
- SoC: Snapdragon 855+
- RAM: 8GB
- Storage: 256GB
- Cameras: 48MP, 16MP, and 8MP
- Front camera: 16MP
- Battery: 4,085mAh
- Software: Android 10
OnePlus 7T specs:
- Display: 6.55-inch, Full HD+
- SoC: Snapdragon 855+
- RAM: 8GB
- Storage: 128/256GB
- Cameras: 48MP, 16MP, and 12MP
- Front camera: 16MP
- Battery: 3,800mAh
- Software: Android 10
5. Asus ROG Phone 2
The follow-up to Asus' first gaming phone is admittedly catered towards a niche audience. However, if you're looking for a gaming phone, or simply want a powerful device with looks that stand out, it doesn't get much better than the Asus ROG Phone 2.
It comes with one of the fastest processing packages currently available, features a super-smooth 120Hz display, and a design that leaves no doubt that this phone is meant for gaming. It's not just the design either, with features like Air Triggers and a secondary USB-C port adding to its pedigree. Beyond gaming, the ROG Phone 2 surprises with excellent cameras and unbeatable battery life.
It's undoubtedly one of the best gaming phones around, but it is also a great phone in general. The good news is that Asus has also been rather aggressive with its pricing, with the lower-tier model priced at under 40,000 rupees, while the high-end iteration sets you back an additional 20,000.
Asus ROG Phone 2 specs:
- Display: 6.59-inch, Full HD+
- SoC: Snapdragon 855+
- RAM: 8/12GB
- Storage: 128/512GB
- Rear camera: 48MP and 13MP
- Front camera: 24MP
- Battery: 6,000mAh
- Software: Android 9 Pie
6. Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro
Xiaomi drags its popular Redmi range of smartphones into high-end territory with the Redmi K20 Pro. The latest and greatest processing package, a beautiful all-screen front, a pop-up selfie camera, triple rear cameras, and an under-display fingerprint scanner ensures that the K20 Pro checks all the 2019 flagship boxes. It's no surprise that the Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro is one of the best phones you can get in India.
The one area Xiaomi continues to surprise is with pricing. Aggressive pricing is a Xiaomi staple, but the Redmi K20 Pro takes things to a whole new level. Even with a specs list that can be interchanged with any other phone on this list, this phone undercuts the competition by huge margins. If you're looking for bang for your buck, it doesn't get any better than the Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro.
Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro specs
- Display: 6.39-inch, Full HD+
- SoC: Snapdragon 855
- RAM: 6/8GB
- Storage: 128/256GB
- Rear camera: 48MP, 8MP, and 13MP
- Front camera: 20MP
- Battery: 4,000mAh
- Software: Android 9.0 Pie
