A few months ago, we discovered a new feature in the Play Store app on your phone that would let you, relatively easily, change the country of your account. Back then, we still weren't clear on how this change would work and whether or not you could switch back. Now, we have some answers in the form of a new Google Play support page.
First, you will only see the option to change your Google Play account if all of these criteria are met:
- your IP address is coming from a different country than the one assigned to your account
- you aren't part of a Google Play Family Library
- you have not changed your country in the past year.
More details about changing your Play Store country: Once per year, not for Family Library members was written by the awesome team at Android Police.
