Nintendo's foray into the smartphone world has been somewhat successful thus far, and it's just announced a new mobile game. Yes, the Dr. Mario series is coming to phones.

The Japanese giant confirmed that Dr. Mario World will be coming to Android and iOS as a free-to-play title with optional in-app purchases. As for availability details, the company revealed an early summer 2019 launch window in roughly 60 markets.

The Dr. Mario series is essentially a take on the Columns and Tetris formula, as you match pills with viruses to complete the level. Check out a trailer for the original game below:

The title is also the first major collaboration between Nintendo and messaging platform Line. The partnership, which was announced alongside the game, will see the duo "co-develop and jointly operate" Dr. Mario World.

It's unclear if this partnership means we'll need a Line account to actually play the game. But it wouldn't be a surprise if Line users get extra functionality, such as playing against friends or sharing scores with contacts.

News of a new Nintendo mobile game comes after the company delayed Mario Kart Tour to summer 2019. The delay will allow the company to polish the mobile title and deliver more post-launch content. Me? I just want Advance Wars on my smartphone or Switch…
