Superbad (2007)

Who knew that a movie about male teenagers wanting to lose their virginity at a party would become such a big hit? At the time, Superbad was the latest in a string of Judd Apatow movies that showed others how to do raunchy comedy right. It also helps that the movie features a collection of comedy heavyweights, such as Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Bill Hader, and many more.

Independence Day (1996)

Here's the thing: as fun as it was to watch Will Smith punch an alien in the face, no one will tell you that Independence Day is a fantastic movie. However, it's credited for representing a turning point for Hollywood blockbuster films. Movies like Armageddon, The Day After Tomorrow, and even The Avengers have this movie to thank for melding literally-explosive action with advanced CGI.
