The ketogenic diet (or simply, the keto diet) is picking up steam. People are posting positive results all over the place. Basically, it's a low carb diet that promotes ketosis. A properly maintained diet is high in fat and low in carbs. Getting into the diet requires three basic things. You need to learn some new recipes to replace all the ones you probably know. Additionally, you probably need a way to track your carbs and other macros to keep them at sufficient levels. Finally, places with more information and support never hurt anybody. We can help with all of those things. Here are the best keto diet apps for Android! These apps are also potentially useful for other types of low-carb, high fat (LCHF) diets like the Paleo diet, Atkins diet, etc.

10 best cooking apps and recipe apps for Android
Virtually everybody knows how to cook something. Otherwise we'd all be starving to death. It's an important life skill. Many of us can only make the basics like mac and cheese or peanut butter and …
Allrecipes Dinner Spinner is a recipes app. It has over 1,000 recipe videos, step-by-step cooking instructions, and recipes for all kinds of diets. That includes the keto diet. Additionally, the app allows for submissions of new recipes. That means you can add to it and make it better for others. Otherwise, the app features the ability to save favorite recipes, a decent search, and a recommendation engine that gets better the longer you use the app. It's not amazing and totally full of keto diet recipes. However, those who follow the diet can add recipes and make it much better over time. The app is also completely free with no in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Carb Manager is one of the more expensive keto diet apps. Thankfully, it also works pretty well. It lets you track your macros (carbs, protein, fat, and calories). The app also includes a database of over one million foods, a water intake calculator, a forum, articles, news, an e-book, and even information on similar low-carb, high fat diets like Paleo, Atkins, and others. All of those features do come at a cost. The app goes for $39.99 per year (billed annually). We're not crazy about subscriptions, but the app does what it says it does and it says it does a lot.
Lifesum is one of the more popular diet and fitness tracker apps. It works for a variety of diets, including the keto diet. The free version of the app includes diet and fitness tracking, habit tracking, and most of the social features. The subscription version adds a recipe database, macro tracking, food ratings, body composition tracking, and better exercise tracking. Macro tracking being a paid feature means keto diet people probably need the pro version. It's expensive at around $44.99 per year, but it should work sufficiently as an all-in-one app for tracking food and exercise.
MyFitnessPal is a serious calorie counter and fitness tracker app. It contains a database of over six million foods, a barcode scanner to add more, and you can import your own recipes. That means long time keto fans can import their collection of recipes. Additionally, the app includes support for a variety of fitness trackers, other fitness apps like Google Fit, and much more. It's the most expensive in terms of yearly subscription costs. However, it functions quite well. It's definitely one of the better keto diet apps.
Let's step away from the subscription stuff for a moment with My CookBook. This is a simple recipe manager app. It can import recipes from a number of sources, including Meal Master, MasterCook, LivingGookBook, Rekconv, and many others. Additionally, you can enter recipes manually. This is a super simple recipe manager app. You add recipes, rate them, and pull them up when you need them. It also features an integrated shopping list, ingredient scaling, customization features, and Android Wear support. This is one of the excellent keto diet apps, especially if you need a good, offline place to store recipes. It runs for a single $3.49 payment for all of the features.

10 best health apps for Android
Getting healthy is something that is on everyone's mind at some point. Better health can lead to lower hospital bills, feeling better, and doing more things. Thankfully, there are a ton of applications on smartphones …
My Recipes Cookbook is another decent recipe manager. It features beautiful Material Design, various methods of importing recipes, and a decent search that covers multiple recipe websites. This is only okay discovering good keto recipes. However, it's a good place for people to store their keto recipes on their mobile phones. The app also lets you modify ingredients, add photos and ratings, and includes categories for organizational purposes. The pro version removes ads and lets you export your entire recipe stash as an HTML file. It's definitely one of the best keto diet apps.
Reddit is a good spot for communities to gather. You can find subreddits for basically everything and that includes the keto diet. We recommend starting with r/keto and r/ketorecipes. You can find fellow keto dieters to share stories and draw inspiration along with recipes to include in your repertoire. We're recommending the stock Reddit app here. There are, however, tons of third party Reddit apps. Many of them are arguably better than the stock one. Choose whichever one fits your needs. There is also an optional Reddit Gold subscription that removes ads and gives you other features.
Total Keto Diet is one of the few good keto diet apps specifically for the diet itself. The app includes hundreds of keto recipes, a macro tracker, a database with hundreds of thousands of foods, an integrated shopping list, and more. There are better apps that do these things, but most of them also includes a bunch of other tools and recipes you won't need or want with the keto diet. This app removes all of that fluff and focuses just on the keto diet. Additionally, the app is entirely free and supported by ads.
YouTube is a good spot for a lot of stuff. Most people watch it to see people do silly things or for entertainment. However, there are a bunch of channels dedicated to educating people on certain topics. There are some decent YouTubers that focus on the keto diet. We would recommend starting with Goody Beats, Cooking Keto with Kristie, and MNDRZ. They have some good recipes, exercise, and advice for keto dieters. Everybody knows that YouTube is free, but you can get YouTube Red for $9.99 per month to remove the ads and add background listening if you really want to.
Yummly is another above average recipe app. It has a lot of the same stuff as other recipe apps. That includes a ton of recipes, the ability to save favorites, and a built-in shopping list, recommendations, and more. This one also caters to people on certain diets or those with dietary restrictions or food allergies. It also lets you add and store recipes from other websites. It's another good spot to start building your collection of keto recipes, although it doesn't have a whole ton of them to start with. It's also completely free with ad support.
