Get ready to celebrate the summer days with the return of the Water Festival in Pokémon Go. Despite arriving a little later compared to last year, the second Water Festival event features plenty of Water-type Pokémon to catch as well as a number of welcome trainer bonuses.
The 2018 Water Festival kicks off later today at 1pm (PDT) and will run until June 21. Until then, Water-types, such as Magikarp and Wailmer, will be far more common, while rarer Pokémon, including starters Totodile and Mudkip, will now hatch from 2km Eggs.
Trainers also earn double Candy and Stardust for any Eggs hatched during the event. Likewise, catching any Water-type creatures will award three times the amount of Stardust you'd normally receive.
In addition to event-specific Field Research tasks, Water-types will also appear more often in Raid Battles. Legendary Pokémon Kyogre also returns to Raids and, if you're incredibly lucky, you may find a Shiny form version of the oversized whale. Shiny versions of Shelder will also be up for grabs in the wild, so don't ignore the clam-shaped critter if you fancy owning a rare form of Cloyster.
The Water Festival arrives just two days after the end of Adventure Week during which Rock-types had their time in the sun, as well as the addition of the first Alolan form monster, Alolan Exeggutor. It also comes shortly after Nintendo revealed a new Pokémon RPG game for its Switch console that includes compatibility with Niantic's mobile hit.
