New leaks give us a good look at the Google Pixel 4 and a ‘mystery’ sensor

The Google Pixel 4 has leaked yet again, this time courtesy of iGeeksBlog.

The larger Pixel 4 XL has been the star of most Pixel 4 leaks lately, but this time we're getting a detailed look at the smaller Pixel 4 in a set of CAD renders. The renders unsurprisingly show off a device that looks just like the Pixel 4 XL, only smaller.

iGeeksBlog claims the Pixel 4 will have a 5.6-inch display and measure 147 x 68.9 x 8.2mm (9.3mm with the camera bump). A larger "forehead" bezel sits above the display, housing two front-facing cameras, an earpiece, and some type of mystery sensor (more on this later).

Both the Pixel 4 and 4 XL are reported to have bottom-firing speakers, dual rear cameras and a spectral sensor, a minimal "chin" bezel below the display, and no headphone jack. You'll also notice the lack of a fingerprint sensor in these renders — that's because Google will likely include a Face ID-like face recognition system in its new Pixel phones.

How do we know that? For starters, we got our first glimpse of face recognition settings in Android Q Beta 4. This is a good sign that Android Q will officially support more advanced face recognition hardware when it's officially released in Q3 2019.

Also, a recent tweet from leaker Ice Universe outed what are supposedly images of Google Pixel 4 and 4 XL screen protectors. Nothing looks too out of the ordinary with these screen protector leaks, aside from the big oval cutout on the right side of the top bezel.

Could that cutout be for some face recognition sensors? Or does it have something to do with the rumored Project Soli features coming to the Pixel 4? We'll have to wait to find out.
