Night modes have become one of the most important camera features today, combining multiple images and other processing techniques to deliver better low-light shots. The triple camera-toting OnePlus 7 Pro has its own night mode, dubbed Nightscape, and OnePlus is indeed working to improve it.
The OnePlus 7 Pro's Nightscape mode is only available via the 48MP primary rear camera right now. But a OnePlus executive told GSMArena that you'll be able to use the mode in conjunction with the phone's other cameras in the future.
"We are working on bringing the Nightscape feature to the other cameras in a future update," OnePlus image product manager Zake Zhang was quoted as saying.
This is welcome news, but it's also arguably overdue when you consider that Huawei's telephoto and ultra-wide cameras can use night mode anyway. Night mode shots taken with these cameras are notably inferior to night mode snaps with the primary camera (owing to the main camera's better low-light capabilities), but you're still getting a different perspective.
There's no word if OnePlus plans to bring Nightscape mode to the OnePlus 7 Pro selfie camera though. The Google Pixel phones allow users to shoot Night Sight images with the selfie camera — ideal if you're at a bar, in the woods, or somewhere else equally dark. We've contacted OnePlus to find out more details and will update the article when/if they get back to us.
