10 best new Android apps from November 2019!

App developers are pushing the envelope on a daily basis trying to improve and enhance our smartphone and tablet experiences. In fact, so many Android apps come out every day that it's difficult to keep track of them all. It's difficult to usurp the best of the best but if you're getting bored with what you've got and want to try something new, check out the best new Android apps from the last month! You can watch the videos from past months by clicking here! You can check out our selections for the best new Android apps from 2018 in the video above!

1Gallery

Price: Free / Up to $4.49

1Gallery is a mix between a regular gallery app and a gallery vault app. On the gallery side, it lets you view photos and videos and also includes some super basic video and photo editing tools. Additionally, the grid is reasonably readable UI, support for things like RAW, SVG, and panoramic photos, and you can view EXIF data. On the gallery vault side, you can hide photos and video content behind some decent encryption along with a PIN, pattern, or fingerprint lock. It's a decent all-in-one solution and gallery apps rarely do both of these functions well. This one is one that does both functions relatively well.

bthere

Price: Free

bthere is one of a couple of new social apps this month. This one links up all of your friends and claims to give rewards just for hanging out. In reality, it's a group chat app with some advertisements baked in. Basic premise aside, the app actually functions rather well. The group chat and location sharing features are nice if you have a group of friends who don't mind having such things. Additionally, it has event planning features and a Come Get Me button in case of urgent situations like being too drunk to drive. It has a lot of promise but, of course, it means you have to get your friends on it along with you, a difficult task in 2019.

Cometin

Price: Free / Up to $7.99

Cometin is a decent, but growing selection of tweaks and tricks for Android devices. It leverages the Dynamic Modules function from Google I/O 2019 in a unique sort of way. You can download modules for ambient display tweaks, a caffeine mode, and even the ability to remap an assistant button. The modules only download to your device as needed and are serviced by the Google Play Store. It even has a cloud storage option should you need it. The app seems to have some issues on Chinese OEM devices due to the heavily skinned nature of those devices.

Disney+

Price: Free trial / $6.99-$13 per month

Disney+ is undoubtedly the biggest app launch in the month of November. Disney spent the last couple of years yanking all of its content off of rival streaming sites so it could put out its own and charge extra money for it. We're not fans of that kind of shady behavior, but let's face facts, Disney+ is already famous with over ten million subscribers in the first couple of weeks alone. The big deal here, though, is the ability to get Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ for a super cheap price tag. We wholeheartedly recommend that deal, but as a solo service, Disney+ doesn't have enough content yet to beat out its larger competitors.

EdLock

Price: Free with in-app purchases / $12.99 per year

EdLock is an educational app mostly for kids. It works as an app lock of sorts. You put it over the apps yours kids use and they answer trivial questions to unlock the app and use it. Thus, the kids learn a little something every time they use the device. It's a neat premise. You get three tokens to unlock three topics to start with in the free version. From there, you can unlock additional tokens through in-app purchases or subscribe for $12.99 per year to unlock everything. The price is a bit steep, so it's difficult to recommend it to everybody. However, we like the idea a lot, especially for kids who are consistently glued to their devices.

GCA Launcher

Price: Free / Up to $4.99

GCA Launcher is a newer launcher app. It's a relatively basic launcher with a stock Android look plus some customization features. At this time, it includes icon pack support, adaptive icon support, themes, various customizations to things like the app drawer, a predictive apps and actions function, and a few decent little productivity features. The UI has a neat look to it and there is definitely some promise here. The developer promised an update with some larger fixes and changes in the first quarter of 2020. We don't recommend it yet, but if the developer hits a home run with that update, this could be a good app.

IRL – Social Calendar

Price: Free

IRL – Social Calendar is the second social app this month. This one is a little bit more difficult to learn but it has a decent number of applications. It's basically a calendar app with an integrated chat system. Basically, let's say you have a calendar event for a concert and all of your friends are going to. All of you can chat about the concert in the concert event in the calendar. This is true of all events in the calendar. If you have one for work and one for home, people from one can't see the other. It still requires you to get all of the people in your life on board. It's a difficult task, but the idea for this one is really neat.

Six Digital Wellbeing apps

Price: Free

Google launched six experimental Digital Wellbeing apps in November. They include Unlock Clock, We Flip, Post Box, Morph, Desert Island, and Paper Phone (linked at the button below). The apps are all little games and activities to work on your digital well-being. For instance, We Flip is a game for you and your friends to see who goes the longest without using their phone. Unlock Clock is a live wallpaper that shows how often you unlock your device during the day. You get the idea. None of the apps are amazing, but they all do their specified functions fairly well. Hit all the links if you want to download one of them.

Walmart InHome Delivery

Price: Free

Walmart InHome Delivery is Walmart's attempt at a grocery delivery service. It does what the others do, including letting you grocery shop at home and someone brings it to your door. However, Walmart takes it one step further and the drivers actually go into your house and put your groceries away. It requires some extra setup and it's a little invasive, but Walmart swears that they only give the opportunity to employees who proved themselves with hard work. However, we totally get it if that's a little much for you, In any case, you can still get groceries delivered to your door. It isn't available everywhere, though, and you'll have to check it out to see if it's right for you.

Xbox Game Streaming

Price: Free

Xbox Game Streaming is a new app from Microsoft. It lets you stream games from your Xbox to your phone with a compatible controller. The game play takes place on your hardware in your house so you only need a decent local area connection in order to play games reliably. This is an early access beta, although Microsoft labeled it a preview. You can still play multiplayer and all of that if you have an Xbox Gold subscription. It seems to work generally well, but we expect improvements as the app matures.
