It's been a long time coming, but finally, many more European countries can now access Disney Plus. The company has now opened up the popular movie and TV streaming outlet to the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Austria, Ireland, Switzerland, and Spain.
Previous to today, Disney Plus was only available in one European market, the Netherlands. Now other European countries can join in, along with the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. The subscription price is £5.99 a month in the UK, 9.90 CHF in Switzerland, and €6.99 per month in the other European countries. An annual subscription costs £59.99 in the UK, 99.90 CHF in Switzerland, and €69.99 in the other European countries. Disney Plus does offer a free seven-day trial period.
Due to the coronavirus outbreak, there's been a couple of changes in the wide Disney Plus Europe launch. One is that France's launch of the service has been delayed until April 7. The other change is that to prevent internet traffic congestion during the crisis, the service will cut its bandwidth use for the remaining European launch countries by 25% for the immediate future.
The best on Disney Plus
There's a ton of content you can stream on the service, from classic Disney films to the latest original movies and shows. Here are some of our guides showing the best of Disney Plus. Keep in mind that not all of the content on the service in the US will be available in Europe. For example, Frozen 2, which launched early in the US and other markets, is not available yet in the new European markets. Also, even though all of the episodes of The Mandalorian are now available in the US, they are still being dropped once a week in Europe.
