Full Galaxy Note 7 specs leak along with new Gear VR and renders

Samsung-Galaxy-Note7-Press

The Galaxy Note 7 leak fest is starting to approach HTC levels, but we won't complain. Not only has a swathe of new renders appeared, but we now have a full specs list and our first glimpse of the new Gear VR from Steve Hemmerstoffer (aka @OnLeaks).

First up, the Galaxy Note 7 specs include a 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED display, an octa-core chipset clocked at 2.3 GHz (which many are claiming is the Exynos 8890 used in the Galaxy S7), 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB ROM with microSD expansion, 12 MP f/1.7 camera with OIS and 4K video, 5 MP front-facing camera, 3,500 mAh battery, USB Type-C and of course that iris scanner. The device measures 153.5mm x 73.9mm x 7.9 mm and weighs 168 grams.

If these specs are sounding a little familiar, that's because they're basically a Galaxy S7 Edge with a slightly larger screen (and a smaller battery). We know Samsung wants to reduce the perceptual problem of the Note series having a larger number than the S series, but duplicating a six-month-old specs sheet (if the leak is accurate) to have the two match up is not going to make many people happy. Hemmerstoffer also notes the Note 7 price will be around €850 in France.

What might make people happy is the new Gear VR – which, as you probably guessed, looks just like its predecessor. Kind of like the Note 7. But this time it's black. And comes with a USB Type-C connection. Its dimensions are 207mm wide by 122mm high and 98.5mm deep, compared to the current version which measures 198mm x 116mm x 90mm. The new Gear VR-C reportedly weighs 300 grams.

The new version also ups the viewing angle to 110 degrees from the 96 degree field-of-view in the current version. Apparently, the new Gear VR will also be compatible with the whole S6 and S7 family, presumably through a simple adapter for microUSB-equipped devices, which we can only hope Samsung includes in the box so we don't have to go out and buy one.

Do you think the Note 7 will be a winner? Should the Gear VR be bundled for free?
