John Hanke, the Niantic Labs CEO and one of the key figures in Pokémon Go's development, has revealed a handful of details about what's going to arrive to the app this year.
Apparently, the influx of Gen 2 Pokemon which arrived in February was the first of four updates hitting the AR title in 2017, which Hanke said would arrive every quarter. Hanke made the comments in an interview with Spanish publication El Periòdico, confirming that the upcoming new features would relate to co-operative play and group competitions, but also that new Pokémon would arrive too. Hanke also mentioned these three major updates at his keynote speech at MWC 2017.
This echoes some of Hanke's comments from a recent interview with Waypoint. where he stated that new gameplay features, including monster trading, player-versus-player battles and a gym battle system, were also in the works.
There's no precise timeline for when the next update will arrive, but we're into the second quarter now so it can't be far off. Be sure to head to the Play Store link below if you want to grab the latest Pokémon Go version.
