You’ll soon be able to post Instagram Stories from the web

Starting soon, Instagram users are getting a new way to post. Up until now, you had to download the Instagram application to be able to post to Stories. Now, you'll be able to do it from the mobile web browser on your phone.

While this is exciting news, there are some drawbacks to keep in mind. Users who opt for the browser instead of the app will be limited in what they can upload and customization options. You'll only be able to upload still photos and customization options are limited to text captions in a variety of colors. No video will be allowed and the rest of the creative options like doodling, stickers, or polls won't be supported. To use those features, you'll have to open up the app and upload from there.

If you see a delicious meal idea you want to save for later, Instagram will also allow you to save posts while using a browser. There will be a bookmark icon on feed posts that will send the post to your Saved folder. You'll be able to access that from the top right portion of your screen. The social photo sharing site says all of these changes will start rolling out in the next few weeks so don't get too disappointed if you don't see them yet.

Even though the features are somewhat basic, they're welcomed. This should help users who either can't or have been resistant to downloading Instagram's app in the past. Every inch that Instagram can move its web experience closer to its app experience the better.
