15 best Android games of 2019!
10 best new Android apps from December 2018!
Blackmoor 2: The Traitor King is a hybrid of a platformer and a beat 'em up game. The game features a story, eight playable characters, boss fights, and online multiplayer with up to four players. You also get Google Play Games cloud saving and some in-app purchases you can totally ignore if you want to. The big draw with this game is the user-generated dungeon builder. You can create your own levels and submit them for other players to play. You, in turn, can download and play levels that other people designed. We think that's a really neat mechanic. The game is currently in beta in select regions and for select devices. If you can't get it now, check back in a month or so and try again!
Hang Line: Mountain Climber is the latest arcade game from Yodo1 Games, publishers of Rodeo Stampede and Rooms of Doom (and originally Crossy Road). The game mechanics are simple enough. You climb mountains while avoiding various obstacles and other threats. The features include five mountain environments and over 50 total levels, 90 characters to choose from, and some fun little power-ups to help you out. The game is friendly for both kids and adults like most Yodo1 Games. Additionally, you have four endless mountain modes if you want to just relax and play some games. The game has bugs, but so do all mobile games in the first month.
Heroes of Flatlandia is a strategy game with turn-by-turn style combat. Players build armies, battle the bad guys, and conquer far away lands. The game includes two races to choose from, 14 different units, and four playable heroes. That's not a huge list, but the developers promise more in future updates. There is also a multiplayer mode, various spells and abilities to learn, and a fun art style. It might not blow your socks off. However, the game goes for $1.99 and has no additional microtransactions. It may also be a tad slow for some people, so give it a good try before the refund period to see for yourself.
Lemmmings is the official mobile version of the popular 1990's console game. The basic mechanics remain faithful to the original. Lemmings drop from the ceiling and you get them to the exit point. Some other game features include thousands of levels, one-touch mobile controls, a very simple city building mechanic, and online multiplayer. Some purists say the freemium aspects water down the experience a bit and we see where they're coming from. The game is simpler than its console counterpart. However, it's close enough that many fans should enjoy it.
Oddmar is a 2D action-platformer from the developers of Leo's Fortune. The game features a story about Oddmar, a Viking shunned by his fellows. They offer him a chance to prove himself and, well, welcome to the game! It features some of the cleanest 2D platform mechanics we've seen in a mobile game to date. You also get 24 levels, weapons and shields with special abilities, cloud saving, and hardware game controllers. It ticks all of the boxes that makes a game great on mobile and this may well be on our list of the best games of 2019 come December. It does have the occasional bug and we hope future updates address those.

OutRush is basically 1985 in video game format. You fly a plane through various obstacles, fight bosses, and try not to run into anything important. The graphics came straight out of Tron (probably) and the game play mechanics are simple enough to learn. The game uses runner style mechanics, except the levels do eventually end so it's not an endless runner. Some of the game features also include fast-paced game play, a level editor mode, and a daily challenge mode with a leaderboard. Not bad for a game that costs a maximum of $1.49.
Quantum Contact is an adventure exploration game in space. You play as a little shuttle craft and you explore the various caves on one of Jupiter's moons. The game features decent controls, retro graphics, and a fun premise. There are three major game modes. The isn't much in the way of difficulty. However, each mode lets you pilot your little spacecraft in a different fashion. One uses less energy but is more dangerous overall and another uses more energy but is less dangerous. The third one is kind of between the other two. In any case, the game runs for $4.99 with no in-app purchases. It's a decent little game for explorer game fans.
Ramageddon is a PvP combat game. You play as a ram and you try to ram other people off of the edge of the level. The online PvP mode is the main focus. However, you can play the game against bots on any of the maps as well. We'll be honest, this is one of the weaker options this month. However, we like the premise, even if the controls are a tad clunky. This one is still in beta, though, and it definitely still needs work. For now, the game is entirely free with no in-app purchases or ads. That will likely change when the app goes live for real.
Seek Hearts the latest RPG from Kemco, developers of, well, a ton of JRPGs on mobile. It plays a lot like a late 1990's, early 2000's era JRPG. players explore a world map, engage in turn-by-turn combat with bad guys, and read tons and tons of dialog. If that sounds like a good time for you, this game might be a good choice. There are various characters with various skill sets, customization options for things like battle speed and random encounter rates, and some extras to keep the game fresh. You can play the beginning of the game as a free demo. The main game costs $7.99. There are also optional in-app purchases if you want to do stuff like skip grinding and don't mind paying for it.
Taponomicon is a new idle tap game. You tap to generate resources and upgrade your monsters until they generate their own resources. The game also features power-ups for faster resource acquisition. You basically summon creatures, combine them to make new creatures, and then reap the rewards for it. The advertising isn't great so if you have a short temper for ads, you may want to avoid this one. You can pay to remove ads in the game if you want to as well. Otherwise, it plays mostly like your normal idle tap style game. It's not bad, but it could be better.
