Galaxy S10 X specs blowout: Samsung’s 5G phone could be an absolute monster

Samsung 5g phone - Galaxy S10 X specs, price, features

The clock is counting down to the official launch of the Samsung Galaxy S10 series. The good money is on Samsung releasing a whopping four smartphones at its Unpacked event on Feb. 20, and now we might know a little more about the mysterious 5G model.

According to ETNews, the ultra-premium model will be called the Galaxy S10 X. The South Korean publication says this represents not only the tenth anniversary of the Galaxy S line (sound familiar?), but also two of Samsung's alleged buzzwords for the device — "eXperience" and "eXpansion."

What does that mean, exactly? Well, apparently it means Samsung's 'ultra flagship' would be possibly the most powerful and feature-packed smartphone ever released.

ETNews says the 5G-enabled Galaxy S10 will feature an in-display fingerprint sensor, a whopping 1TB of storage, a humongous 5,000mAh battery, and 10GB of RAM or more.

That's in addition to rumored features we've heard about like those six cameras (two selfie shooters and a quad-lens module on the rear), 3D sensors on the front and back, and a huge 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display.

The publication also notes that the phone would harbor a "secret weapon" in the form of AI technology that adapts to the user to automate key software features. We've already seen Google attempt to bring in this kind of daily AI assistance with Android 9.0 Pie, but it sounds like Samsung wants to take it a step further.

Finally, the report states that the main S10 series will hit shelves in Samsung's home region on March 8, while the S10 X will debut later on March 29. The former includes the regular S10, the S10 Plus, and the S10 Lite (or S10 E, depending on which leak you're looking at).

Pricing for the lowest S10 model will reportedly sit somewhere between 800,000 won (~$712) and 900,000 won (~$801), while the Galaxy S10 X could reach as high as 1.8 million won, which converts to around $1,603. Oof.

We'll know for sure whether this insane-sounding phone is for real in just over a month when the S10 series officially breaks cover. What's interesting to me is that Samsung is using the "X" moniker after years of speculation around a so-called Galaxy X phone with a foldable display (that phone may actually end up being called the Galaxy F).

Of course, Samsung's foldable phone hasn't been abandoned, and if the recent wave of rumors turn out to be true, we might well see the final product on Feb. 20 alongside the S10 series.
