The Lenovo Smart Tabs combine an Android tablet with a smart speaker dock

The smart speaker trend is currently in full swing, and everyone seems to want to put a new spin on these products. Lenovo, which already has released its Smart Display speaker, has come up with a new twist of its own.

During CES 2019, the company announced two new Android tablets that it calls Smart Tabs. That's because both of these tablets come with their own dock that turns them into touchscreen smart speakers when they are connected.

Both of these docks support Amazon's Alexa digital assistant. The docks also have two 3W speakers and three far-field microphones. When one of the Lenovo Smart Tabs tablets is placed in the dock, it turns the smart speaker into a 10.1-inch, 1,920 x 1,200 touchscreen smart device. You can use it to view content on your security videos, ask it to show you recipes, order it to reveal your calendar, and much more.

Both tablets can, of course, be taken out of the dock and used as standalone devices. Both have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 540 processor inside, but sadly they also come with the older Android 8.1 Oreo pre-installed.

Both of the Lenovo SmartTab tablet-smart speaker dock combos will go on sale later in January on Amazon and on the company's official website.
