App developers are pushing the envelope on a daily basis trying to improve and enhance our smartphone and tablet experiences. In fact, so many Android apps come out every day that it's difficult to keep track of them all. It's difficult to usurp the best of the best but if you're getting bored with what you've got and want to try something new, check out the best new Android apps from the last month! Atmosphere Weather is something a little different. It has a unique UI with a bunch of extra features. You get weather app basics like a seven day forecast, a radar, and hourly forecasts. However, this app puts all of that information into a dial of sorts in the middle of the UI. You can visually see the weather changing as the day goes. It takes a few days to get the hang of things, but it's otherwise a nice addition to the mobile weather app scene.
Complete Music Reading Trainer and Complete Rhythm Trainer are two new music apps for beginner musicians. The first one teaches you the ins and outs of reading sheet music. The other does the same thing but for rhythm. You get a variety of exercises, information, and tutorials on how to do things. Both apps also feature little mini-games to make the learning process somewhat interesting. The developer has a third app, Complete Ear Trainer, that we quite liked when it came out as well.
Energy Ring is another customization app for the Samsung Galaxy S10, S10 Plus, and S10e. It basically changes the cutout camera hole into a battery monitor. It not only makes use of the cutout, but does so rather stylishly with some added functionality. However, it does only do this one thing. There are some customizations and the pro version adds a few additional features. The minimum price is $2.99 but donations can range up to $23.99 if you want to.
Firefox Lockbox is a password manager from Mozilla. It's a rather simple password manager app and includes features like fingerprint scanner support, an automatic timer that locks the app, and a few other things. It doesn't compete with the big dogs in this space yet, but it is new and these types of apps usually take a while to mature. Some early complaints include syncing bugs and a few other stability issues. It's not ready for prime time yet but keep it on your radar as a potential free option in this space eventually.
Holey Light is the latest app from Chainfire and another Galaxy S10, S10 Plus, and S10e customization app. It basically turns the camera cutout on the display into a notification light. There aren't a ton of customization features, but this is a brand new app in an early access beta. It worked in our testing, but not without a little bit of effort. It is really neat when it works, though. For the time being, the app is entirely free.

Laughable is a podcast network for comedy fans. It lets you follow various podcasts as well as individual personalities. The app then notifies you when those personalities appear on almost any podcast. It features a variety of non-comedy podcasts as well if you want to use it for that. You also get some normal podcast features like playback speed, offline listening, and others. It's a serviceable podcast app and we like its focus on comedy.
Lightbeam is a screen sharing app. It works like a screen sharing app likely should. You connect with a friend and they can see everything you do on your screen or vice versa. This is excellent for both work and play environments. It works as a video chat service but with a little bit extra. It's not the most complicated thing ever and it's still very much in its early days. We had fun using it, though.
Spark Email launched on the same day Inbox by Gmail died. This is actually a decent email app. It uses an inbox priority style, but you can still view all emails at once if you want to. We like that it adds all of these little smart features but you can always turn them off or ignore them and use it as a regular email app. Some other features include reminders, email snoozing, an above average email search, and you can even send emails on a schedule. It's entirely free for the time being.
Waymo is a new ride sharing service, except this one has self-driving cars. It's a brand new service and it's only available in parts of Phoenix, Arizona right now. It works like any other ride sharing service. You schedule a ride, a car picks you up, and it drops you off at your destination. This app has a waiting list and it's only available in part of one city so we did not get to test this one. However, it's kind of exciting that a self-driving car service exists in the wild now.
Zoho Show is a new presentation app. It works a lot like PowerPoint or Google Slides. You can prepare presentations, show them, and edit them as needed. The app supports a variety of things like transition animations, image filters, and other customization options. It can actually read PowerPoint files and it comes with modern features like cloud storage support and collaborative features. It's free for the time being and not a bad alternative to the bigger apps.
