How to change your Netflix password

There you are, ready to watch season 5 of Black Mirror, and you can't get past the sign-in screen because you forgot your password. Don't beat yourself up — the average person reportedly has 90 online accounts, all of them requiring passwords. Unless you use a password manager, it's easy to forget your password when you have a large number of accounts to your name.

The good news is Netflix makes it relatively easy to reset your password if you forgot it. Let's find out together how to change your password and get back to binge-watching everything from Stranger Things to Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

How to change your Netflix password on Android

Start off by launching the Netflix app. Tap the Sign In button on the top right that's next to the Help button. Once you're in the sign-in screen, tap the Need help? text below the Sign In button. You then get sent to a dedicated Netflix website for login help.

From here, you have three ways to reset your password: by email, text message, or voice call. Keep in mind that you must have linked a phone number to your Netflix account if you want to select the text message or voice call options.

If you select the email option, enter the email address used for your Netflix login and tap the Email Me button. From there, check your primary inbox for an email from Netflix. Open the email and tap Reset Password. The link opens a new tab in your browser, where you can create and confirm your new password.

If you select the text message option, enter the phone number attached to your Netflix account. Tap the Text Me button and wait a few seconds for a text message that contains a verification code. Type in the verification code and hit the Verify button. After that's done, you can create and confirm a new password.

Finally, the voice call option lets Netflix call you with a verification code. As with the previous step, enter the phone number attached to your Netflix account and tap Call Me. Allow a few seconds for the automated phone call with a verification code to ring your phone. Once you get the code, type it in and hit Verify. Once that's done, you're free to create a new password.
