Android’s March security update breaks features on some Google Pixel devices

Google released its second-ever Pixel feature drop yesterday, and with the update came the latest Android March security patch. Unfortunately, not all has been fine and dandy with some Pixel 2 and Pixel 4 users reporting the update has broken a few of their devices' features.

Google Pixel 2 owners received Live Caption functionality this January only to see the new feature stripped from their devices with this current update. This looks to be an intentional move since the feature wasn't initially supposed to roll out to Pixel 2 devices when it did. According to a tweet from the official Google Twitter account, Live Caption functionality will return back to Pixel 2 devices in an update scheduled for next week.

On the other hand, AT&T Google Pixel 4 owners have reported an issue that wasn't intentional. According to several users on Reddit, Google Pay functionality was broken on their devices when they installed the update. This is apparently because Google didn't properly certify the build, and Google has paused the update to fix the situation.

There is no word yet on when Google will re-release the March security update on Pixel 4 devices, but we hope it moves quickly since many people rely on Google Pay in their day-to-day lives.
