- The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 specs have been revealed in a new leak.
- The new Samsung watch will come in 1.2- and 1.4-inch display variants.
- It'll essentially match the Galaxy Watch Active 2 in terms of health sensors.
It's been a few years since Samsung released the original Galaxy Watch, but its successor is coming soon. It'll be called the Samsung Galaxy Watch 3, and rumor has it the smartwatch will arrive this July alongside a new iteration of Galaxy Buds. Now, the folks at SamMobile claim to have some new Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 specs to share.
We already know the Galaxy Watch 3 will come in two sizes: 41mm and 45mm. SamMobile notes the Galaxy Watch 3 display sizes will be 1.2 and 1.4 inches, respectively. For reference, the Galaxy Watch's displays were 1.2 and 1.3 inches, while the Galaxy Watch Active 2's displays were 1.2 and 1.35 inches.
The Galaxy Watch 3 might have a smaller rotating bezel, which should be a welcome change.
Furthermore, the Galaxy Watch 3's dimensions will reportedly measure 45 x 46.2 x 11.1mm and 41 x 42.5 x 11.3mm. We've also heard the Galaxy Watch 3 will bring back the popular rotating bezel for navigation. Given the display sizes and dimensions, we can assume the rotating bezel will be slightly smaller on the Galaxy Watch 3 compared to the original Galaxy Watch. After all, the bezel was the one design element that made the Galaxy Watch so bulky, so we're happy to hear it may be reduced this year.
The two Galaxy Watch 3 sizes will also come with 247 and 340mAh batteries, which are the same sizes as the Galaxy Watch Active 2's cells. Assuming they both have similar display specs (likely fully round AMOLED panels), we hope to see the same two-day battery life that we got out of the Active 2.
SamMobile notes the new Samsung watch will come with 1GB of RAM and Tizen OS 5.5. However, no software details were mentioned aside from the Tizen version number.
Finally, in true Samsung fashion, the Galaxy Watch 3 will likely be another everything-but-the-kitchen-sink device. The Watch 3 will likely have similar health and fitness specs to the Galaxy Watch Active 2. The new watch is rumored to have an optical heart rate sensor, built-in GPS, blood pressure monitoring, and an ECG. However, it remains to be seen whether or not the ECG will be fully up and running for launch — it was just last month that Samsung got approval to use the ECG on the Active 2 in Korea, so it's possible the feature won't be ready for use in July.
Of course, these are just some of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 specs. You can learn even more about the device in our rumor hub.
