Update, June 22, 2020 (5AM ET): The Samsung Galaxy A71 5G is now available in the US. We've updated the original article below with all the availability details.

Original article, June 15, 2020 (9:20 AM ET): Samsung first announced its popular A-series phones in the US back in April. While the company detailed a total of six phones at the time, it didn't launch them all of them at once. Only the Galaxy A11, Galaxy A01, and Galaxy A51 were available in the US until now, but Samsung has just confirmed the release date of a fourth phone in the series, the Galaxy A71 5G.

When it releases, the new Galaxy A71 will be the only 5G phone in Samsung's mid-range arsenal in the US. The brand is also expected to announce the Galaxy A51 5G at some point, but right now, it only sells the 4G version of the phone in the country.

In terms of specs, the Samsung Galaxy A71 5G brings the Snapdragon 765G processor, a large 6.7-inch AMOLED screen, a 4,500mAh battery, 25W fast charging, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage. Its quad-camera setup is led by a 64MP sensor. A 12MP wide-angle lens, a 5MP macro shooter, and a 5MP depth camera complete the setup. Upfront is a 32MP selfie snapper.

All these specs seem pretty solid on paper and could make the Samsung Galaxy A71 5G a very popular device in the mid-range segment.

Samsung Galaxy A71 5G: Price and availability

The Samsung Galaxy A71 5G is priced at $599. That makes it almost half the price of Samsung's least expensive 5G flagship in the US — the Galaxy S10 5G — which costs $1,149.

At that price, the new phone is one of the most affordable 5G-enabled devices available in the US, if not the cheapest. Closest to that price point are the OnePlus 8 and the LG V60, both of which start at $700.

The Samsung Galaxy A71 5G is now available for sale in the US. Customers will be able to purchase the phone from Samsung.com, AT&T, and T-Mobile. AT&T is also offering the phone on an installment plan of $10/month for 30 months. If you take this deal, you also get a $100 AT&T Visa reward card. Meanwhile, T-Mobile installments start at $25/month for 24 months.

On Sprint, you can get an 18-month Sprint Flex lease starting at $15/month. Six months into the lease you can either return the phone and upgrade to a new model or buy it by paying a lump-sum or six monthly installments.

Verizon will also start taking pre-orders for the phone on July 9, with sales starting July 23 on the network. The phone will also be available through additional carriers and unlocked by Samsung later this summer.
