- Fire Emblem Heroes first anniversary event kicks off on February 1st.
- Event brings new hero, challenge and training maps, free Orbs, and much more.
- A new rhythm-based mode called Tap Battle: Illusory Dungeon will also be playable until February 22nd.
Nintendo's mobile strategy game Fire Emblem Heroes is nearing its first birthday. To celebrate the occasion, players will be treated to a special, limited-time anniversary event complete with free in-game goodies. In addition, developer Intelligent Systems is introducing a new legendary hero and a brand new game mode with a twist.
The anniversary event kicks off from tomorrow (February 1st) when all players will be able to claim 50 Orbs after logging in. An additional 50 Orbs will then be up for grabs for players who complete each of the 25 special daily maps on both Normal and Hard difficulties.
New Developer Challenge maps, Grand Hero Battles, and Special Training maps will launch throughout the month-long celebration, during which time all EXP and SP gains will be doubled.
Long-time series fans will also get the chance to grab another version of Radiant hero and Super Smash Bros star, Ike. According to the folks over at Touch Arcade, this variant is potentially the strongest yet. You can see him in action in the video below.
You might also want to keep Ike: Vanguard Legend in mind for the upcoming A Hero Rises event. The poll is essentially a popularity contest where the character with the most votes will be given away to all players for free with a five-star rating. Voting is set to start tomorrow so make sure to vote for your favorite hero.
The most intriguing part of the event, however, is the new game mode called Tap Battle: Illusory Dungeon. Instead of the usual strategy gameplay, Tap Battle is a rhythm game in the mold of the Theatrhythm Final Fantasy games where you're tasked with tapping on enemies in time with classic Fire Emblem music tracks.
Each completed stage moves you further into a 100-floor dungeon which also includes tough boss battles. There's also a mystery prize up for grabs for anyone who completes the mode, so get tapping as the mode is only scheduled to run from February 8th-22nd.
