Verizon is aiming to help customers cope with lockdown and quarantine by offering 15GB of free data to almost anyone with a data plan under the company's banner.
The company announced that customers will have free access to this data between May 1 and May 31, 2020. Just about any plan on Verizon is eligible for the free data — the company is even making it applicable to unlimited plans by increasing the tethering allowance by 15GB.
Starting with the aforementioned unlimited plans, Verizon says most of those already included 15GB or 20GB of LTE mobile hotspot data, so the 15GB would be made available on top of that. Plans cited as being included are the Verizon Plan Unlimited, Go/Beyond/Above Unlimited Plans, and Start/Play More/Do More/Get More Unlimited Plans.
For shared data plans, the company will just add 15GB of data to be used either on connected devices of through mobile hotspot. These plans include the More Everything Plans, Verizon Plans 1.0 and 2.0, and Just Kids options. All devices on the account will split the free data, so it won't be 15GB per phone or tablet connected to a particular plan.
Interestingly, Verizon is also offering up free data to prepaid plans. Any monthly plans with a data allowance will receive access to the free data. This applies to smartphones, tablets, and Jetpack devices.
