- This is our first official look at the new Google Nest smart speaker.
- It has the same fabric mesh design as most Google smart home speakers.
- It also looks like a more compact version of the Google Home Max.
Just a few hours ago, we got our first glimpse at the upcoming Google Home successor thanks to some images discovered within an FCC listing. Google has now provided Android Authority with a clear image and a short supercut video showing the upcoming Nest speaker in its entirety.
We don't really know the final product name for the new Google Nest speaker but as you can see from the image above, it sports the very familiar fabric mesh finish with rounded corners that we've come to expect from Google's smart home speakers. In fact, the new speaker looks like a more compact version of the Google Home Max that launched back in 2017. It echoes the same design aesthetic, albeit without the protruding chassis at the back.
The image above and the video embedded below also show us the Google Assistant lights shining through the fabric mesh covering when prompted by the "Hey, Google" command. You can daisy-chain two (or possibly more) of these new Nest speakers to play music at the same time as shown in the video.
We can't really see the back of the device in the official material shared by Google with us, but the FCC listing showed that the Google logo and a power port are placed at the rear of the device.
That's all we know right now about the new Google Nest speaker, but we're hoping Google will launch it soon since the device has already cleared FCC and Google has also seemingly readied promotional material for it.
