- The Galaxy Fold 2 may not launch at Unpacked next month.
- Tipster Max Weinbach believes the phone's software and hardware require further testing.
- A launch in October is said to be more likely.
You may have to settle for just one Samsung foldable at Unpacked this year. The Galaxy Fold 2, rumored to be called the Galaxy Z Fold 2, may not launch at the company's online-only launch event on August 5 according to XDA-Developers writer Max Weinbach.
Weinbach believes the device's software and hardware aren't ready. The device is reportedly still being tested by carriers. Weinbach explains that the device can't launch without the backing of carriers and a concrete price.

"My guess is we'll get a teaser at the end with the date of like a September launch. At this point, it's not launching until at least October," he adds. This echoes his previous exchange with display industry insider Ross Young, who believed in June that production of the Fold 2 will only begin in August.
There's good news for the Galaxy Z Flip 5G though. Weinbach notes that the device has entered user testing. There aren't many fundamental changes between the Z Flip and Z Flip 5G, so the foldable phone could make its debut at Unpacked alongside the Galaxy Note 20.
Despite Weinbach's solid track record, you should also consider that he isn't the person launching the device. Samsung will likely still showcase the phone at the event but if the Galaxy Fold's delayed launch is any indication, you may not be able to buy it for a while yet.
