Crowdfunding sites have plenty of great innovations to offer, but there are many inventions that leave us scratching our heads. This is why we have created the 'Crowdfunding project of the week' series, where we highlight the coolest tech gadgets sites like Kickstarter and Indiegogo have to offer.
This week we are taking a look at the Blitz headphones. We obviously have plenty of great headphones around, which means each product has to somehow differentiate itself from the crowd. The Blitz headset is definitely special, as it ditches the headset port we have been using for so many years.
USB Type-C is all the hype these days, and that is exactly what Blitz uses to connect to the audio source. It will work with smartphones, tablets and computers that carry this new-generation port.
But why is this something special? There are two factors. The first is that USB Type-C is able to carry much more information than a 3.5 mm headset jack. Blitz is not being very specific about sound quality on this specific headset, but I have heard other USB-based headphones that do sound great.
Another factor to consider is the way the industry is going. Rumors of Apple leaving the 3.5 mm headset jack behind have been circling the internet. LeEco (previously known as LeTV) announced their Le 2, Le 2Pro and Le Max2 would not be supporting this older technology, resorting only to Bluetooth and USB Type-C.

Blitz has your typical on-ear design. They are fold-able, adjustable and quite good looking. In addition, it isolates ambient noise to make sound much cleaner. There's also call/music controls in the cable, making it easy to enjoy your media and communications.
These Blitz headphones do seem pretty interesting, even if we wish we knew more about its quality of sound. What we can tell is that this is here to merge all ports, including the 3.5 mm headset jack. Some of you might want to start investing, and this seems like a good option.
You can go ahead and grab a headset for as low as $79, but hurry because there's not many spots open at that price point. Are any of you signing up? Is it time to get USB Type-C headphones yet, or would you rather wait?
