Android 11 will probably make using a screen protector a bit better

While new versions of Android bring big improvements to security and other areas, many of the smaller changes are often pretty familiar — taking inspiration from features found in various OEM devices. The new increased touch sensitivity setting in Android 11 Developer Preview is such a feature.

You've likely seen this feature on Samsung devices, among other OEMs. The purpose of the setting is simple: sometimes screen protectors can slightly throw off your touchscreen's touch response. This is especially true with thicker protectors such as those made of tempered glass.

The setting could also be useful for things like wearing touchscreen-compatible gloves.

The new toggle can be found under the Advanced section in Settings> Display. Unfortunately, it's only compatible with the Pixel 4 series device it seems. We had no luck triggering it on the Pixel 2 or 3. As for how it works? We honestly didn't notice a massive difference but it likely will depend on the screen protector or accessories used. Regardless, it's a nice small tweak that may be useful for some.
