MWC might be canceled, but Huawei, Honor will still be in Barcelona

MWC 2020's cancellation last week resulted in scores of companies delaying or shifting their launch events, such as Sony, LG, and Vivo. But Huawei and Honor are both steaming ahead with launches in Barcelona anyway.

Honor sent out press invites to a Barcelona press conference earlier today (including to Android Authority), confirming a live-stream on February 24 at 6:30PM CET (12:30PM ET). The invite confirms the venue (Hotel W Barcelona) and the presence of a demo area to experience the new products.

Meanwhile, PhoneArena reports that Huawei is holding a "virtual press conference" at the Italian Pavilion in Barcelona on February 24 as well. The Chinese brand will reportedly offer a demo area as well for attendees to check out the new gadgets.

Huawei is widely expected to launch the Mate XS in Barcelona, offering the Kirin 990 chipset as opposed to the Mate X's Kirin 980. The company also tends to launch new tablets and laptops at MWC, so we'd expect these products at this event as well.

Don't hold your breath for the Huawei P40 series though, as the firm has stuck to a late March launch window since 2018's P20 series.

Meanwhile, Honor could potentially show off a new smartwatch as well as global versions of previously announced phones, to name a few possible products.
