Warrior Nun (July 2)
Based on the indie comic book written and drawn by Ben Dunn, Warrior Nun centers on a orphaned teenage girl who joins a secret society. Called The Order of the Cruciform Sword, its members are super-powered nuns who have been trained to fight evil forces with more than just prayers. The trailer makes this show look pretty exciting.
The Old Guard (July 10)
Netflix's latest big-budget action movie is this comic book-inspired film starring Charlize Theron. She plays the leader of a four-person warrior team that secretly fights evil. Oh, and all four also happen to be immortal. When the team discovered a young woman who might be another immortal, they must both protect and train her. They are also on the run from a group that wants to capture the team to learn the secret of their immorality.
Cursed (July 17)
Yes, it's the latest TV series based on the King Arthur legend. However, this show, based on the illustrated book written by Thomas Wheeler and drawn by Frank Miller, has a different twist. It centers on Nimue, played by 13 Reasons Why's Katherine Langford. She is destined to become the Lady of the Lake, who keeps the sword Excalibur safe for the future King Arthur.
The Umbrella Academy — season 2 (July 31)
The Umbrella Academy was a breakout hit for Netflix in its first season back in early 2019. Now, over a year later, the family of young super-powered misfits is back for a second season. At the end of season 1, the family teleported away after saving the world. In season 2, we find out they are now in Dallas in the 1960s. It looks like they are once again the only hope against a huge apocalyptic threat.
