These days, it's more or less apropos to kids and adults alike to crack open a coloring book. There are tons of coloring book apps on Android. Admittedly, this genre could use a little work. Even so, there are some pretty decent ones that should be a lot of fun. Here are the best coloring book apps for Android!

Most of them are general use coloring book apps while a few of them have themes such as autumn, animals, family oriented, and art. Adult Coloring Book is an aptly named app. It's a coloring book for adults. It features a simple interface, a tap to color mechanic, and there are tons of images that you can play with. Additionally, you can add filters, use paint, and personalize your color palette. That gives you some creative options to make your coloring more fun and unique. Unlike many, it's completely free to download and use. The ads are a bit bothersome, but otherwise it's a positive experience.

Colorfly brands itself as a color therapy app. In reality, it's just one of the better coloring book apps out there. It's a lot like Adult Coloring Book, except this one lets you buy some stuff too. You can download the app for free if you want to check it out.

Coloring Book 2017

Download on Google Play
Coloring Book 2017 won't win any awards for imagination when it comes to their name. However, the app itself is pretty decent. There are plenty of images to get you started and the developers are promising that more are coming soon. Perhaps the best part of this app is that it's completely free to download. Aside from a few ads, it also stays out of your way. There are a few issues, such as an inability to save (you'll have to share to Google Drive to save your finished work), but otherwise it's not too bad.

Free Coloring Book for Adults

Price: Free
Download on Google Play
Free Coloring Book for Adults is a simple, if ineffectively named coloring book app. It handles the basics pretty well. There are images to color, a color palette, and the mechanics are about what you'd expect. It features enough images to play with for a while and it's all completely free. There are some ads here and there but nothing too major. There aren't really many features that set it apart from the competition, but it's a solidly done app that works pretty well.

InColor

Price: Free with optional subscription
Download on Google Play
InColor is probably the most powerful coloring book app on the list. It handles the basics as well as you would expect. Additionally, the app offers Google Drive sync support, gradient support, an eyedropper tool so you can re-use custom colors, and even frames that you can put around your work when it's done. You can use the basic features of the app for free and there is an optional subscription that offers more features. If we're being honest, you should try this one first. It's good.

Google boosts Snapseed by adding a Curves tool and fixing Face detection

It's as if Google finally realized that a real photo-editing app has Curves.

Snapseed is getting its first major update of the year. The photo-editing app, which Google purchased from Nik Software back in 2012, finally features a Curves tool, which helps provide precise control over the brightness levels and varying colors of the picture you're editing. And with smartphones becoming almost as capable as the some of DSLRs, this is a welcome feature for those who may not want to carry laptop with them just to edit photos on the road.

Google has also improved Snapseed's face detection feature. If Snapseed fails to detect a face, for instance, you can essentially ask it to "try harder." And if you're hoping to get a bit kooky with your captions, the Text tool now lets you choose where to wrap lines.

You can read all the details of the Snapseed update at the official Google Plus post on the matter. Or you can wait for the app update to hit your device.

Casey Neistat’s short-lived Beme app is officially no more

If you spend more than just an hour or two on YouTube daily, then chances are you know who Casey Neistat is. He's an American YouTube celebrity with more than six million subscribers online. You know what else he had until very recently? An app called Beme. Neistat's video-sharing app officially launched for Android in May 2016 but was bought by CNN in November. Now, the app is officially no more and gone from the Play Store.

Casey Neistat's video app Beme exits beta and comes to Android

May 3, 2016

Beme was famous for all the wrong reasons, really. It first launched for iOS back in 2015, and Android followed suit a year later. Essentially, you could record a very short clip by placing your phone to your chest (or simply by covering the proximity sensor), and the video would be shared instantaneously with your subscribers. Neistat's vision was idealistic, if not naively impractical: to have an online platform where users can record and share unfiltered, natural, and honest moments.

Neistat's vision was idealistic, if not naively impractical: to have an online platform where users can record and share unfiltered, natural, and honest moments.

Well, as you can imagine, given the fierce competition in the video-sharing arena from companies like Facebook and Snap, Beme didn't really have anything unique to differentiate itself from the crowd. It was awkward and inconvenient to use, and there was no reason to download it on top of your usual "staple apps." Of course, Neistat used his fan base on YouTube to promote his app, but let's just say, Beme's popularity was very short-lived.

But back in November of last year, CNN decided to buy the dying video-sharing platform, perhaps in the hopes of attracting younger readers. And with the acquisition, the company announced that the app would officially shut down on the 31st of January, which is today. And not too surprisingly, the app is officially gone from Google's Play Store. It's unclear whether CNN wants to do something with the app, but unless they find a clever way to incorporate it into their existing CNN app, I don't see the point in keeping it when you have live-streaming features on Facebook, Snapchat, and Instagram.

Have you ever used Beme? What do you think CNN will do with the app? Let us know by leaving a comment below!

Here’s how you can watch the Super Bowl in virtual reality this weekend

This post originally appeared on our sister site, VR Source.

If you're interested in both football and virtual reality, this weekend has some interesting content in store for you. As long as you have either a Google Cardboard headset or a Samsung Gear VR, you can check out some of the greatest moments of Super Bowl LI in real time.

Obviously Fox Sports isn't going to let you watch the entire Super Bowl 51 for free… it still has channel subscriptions to sell. What it will do, however, is give you the opportunity to watch highlights and snippets in your own personal 'virtual suite' where you can sit back, relax, and watch the game's best moments on the big screen. This isn't 360-degree video, but it will give you access to specialized wide-angle video, mapped to a virtual wall just like you're watching on your own extra-large television. If you're passionate about 360-degree video however, you can always take your phone out of the Google Cardboard or Gear VR headset and pivot your phone around to experience it.

Users will have access to 20 different specialized highlights while using the app this weekend, which they can can scrub through in a timeline format to watch exactly what they want to see. While the app actually streamed a full football game last year, it seems the network is a little more strict about the actual Super Bowl, and will be only be showing highlights in order to stay away from live-game stress.

If you want to check out the app for yourself, you can check out the Fox Sports app at the links below. here for Google Cardboard, and here for Gear VR.

Coin officially shutting down product support by end of next month

Coin will be shutting down product services and support as of February 28.

The end is nigh for Coin cards, secure smart payment devices that allow you to store information from up to eight credit, debit or gift cards onto one, digitally secured, wallet-sized card.

Coin had already begun shutting down all their business operations since Fitbit officially acquired the start up back in June of 2016. Now, just seven months after the sale, the company took to the company blog to officially announced that product service and support would be shutting down as of February 28th:

"Effective from February 28, 2017, the Coin product services will officially be shut down. As a result, support through the Coin website or through social media channels will no longer be available.

"If you have a working Coin device, it will continue to work for the duration of the device's battery life, which is two years from activation date. Please note that functionality will be reduced as a result of the February services shutdown.

For example, the Coin mobile app will no longer work once product services are shut down. Among other things, this means that you will not be able to add or change the cards that are stored on your Coin device."

If you're still using your Coin card, you will definitely want to make your final arrangements and shuffle around the cards you plan to be using before that drop dead date, as you will still be free to continue using your Coin cards at your favorite supported merchants until its internal battery finally bites the dust. However, if anything goes haywire after February 28th, you're officially out of luck.

Also worth noting is that, as of today's date (January 31), Coins will no longer be covered by or eligible for warranty exchanges.

Fitbit bought Coin for their compact use of NFC technology for secure in-store payments. While neither the Fitbit Flex 2 or Charge 2 featured NFC capabilities to allow you to pay for things with your fitness tracker, we should hopefully start to see the tech included in the next round of product updates — or perhaps in a brand new Fitbit-branded smartwatch?
