- As promised, ASUS is rolling out the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the ZenFone 3.
- The update will remove some of the pre-installed apps, including Photo Collage and MiniMovie.
- You should see it on your phone in the coming days as it takes around a week for the system to roll out the update.
ASUS promised that the ZenFone 3 would get the Oreo update by the second half of 2018, and that's precisely what's happening right now.
The Taiwanese electronics manufacturer said that the ZenFone 3 and ZenFone 4 series would be receiving the Android 8.0 Oreo update by the second half of 2018. The ZenFone 4 got its share of Oreos last month, and now it's time for the ZenFone 3 to get the latest Android OS. According to the official ASUS blog, the update is rolling out as we speak, but it will take a week or so for the system to complete the auto-push. That said, you can always go to Settings – About – System Update to check manually.
On top of all the sweet features that Android Oreo brings by default such as notification channels and picture-in-picture mode, the latest software update will reportedly offer a friendlier UI. ASUS, as promised, has also removed some of the pre-installed bloatware apps like MiniMovie, Photo Collage, and Do It Later, all of which can now be found in the Play Store.
The company advises that you reserve at least 1.5 GB of storage before installing the update.
