The Motorola Moto G7 and G7 Plus are two of the better budget phones in the U.S. right now, offering a dual-camera setup and solid if unspectacular chipsets.
Now, XDA-Developers may have obtained key specs for a Moto G8 series device via a source. The outlet isn't sure if the specs are related to the Moto G8 or the Moto G8 Plus, but it certainly suggests a solid upgrade over the previous phones.
According to XDA, the new Moto G8 model has a Snapdragon 665 processor, much like the Xiaomi Mi A3 series and Realme 5. The octa-core Snapdragon 665 is a direct follow-up to the Snapdragon 660, offering the same Cortex-A73 and Cortex-A53 CPU cores but bringing an improved GPU, a 2x power boost for AI, and a smaller manufacturing process.
In other words, you can expect a pretty solid improvement over the Moto G7 in terms of gaming, battery life, and AI capabilities. Furthermore, it's believed that the new phone will be available in a 4GB/64GB flavor, with 6GB/64GB and 6GB/128GB models also mooted.
The outlet also suggests that the Moto G8 series phone will be equipped with a triple rear camera setup, featuring a 48MP primary sensor, 16MP ultra-wide camera, and a depth sensor. This should result in a more flexible camera platform, as opposed to the main camera+depth sensor pairing seen on previous models.
Other specs obtained by the website include a 25MP selfie camera, a 6.3-inch FHD+ screen, the Night Vision camera mode, and no Android One support.
