Xiaomi just launched the Redmi 8A in India and we were not expecting to hear about a variant of the smartphone so soon. But apparently, Xiaomi is not so discreet about its plans and has listed a Redmi 8A Pro model on its India website.
First spotted by a Twitter user, the Redmi 8A Pro listing shows up on Mi India's RF Exposure page. The page lists out Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) testing data for all of Xiaomi's phones in India. The Redmi 8A Pro just casually sits there in the list, with no information available about its SAR value or specs.

Considering Xiaomi just pulled out all the bells and whistles for its Redmi 8A budget phone, we wonder what's left to add in the Pro variant. The Redmi 8A gets class-leading specs like 18W fast charging, Sony's IMX 363 camera sensor, and a 5,000mAh battery. So it's possible that the Redmi 8A Pro is just a RAM or storage upgrade, or something equally minor.
The Redmi 7A did not have a Pro version, and Xiaomi has no track record of launching a Pro version of its A series. Xiaomi usually offers better chipsets on Redmi phones that don't have the 'A' in the name. For instance, the Redmi 7 sports a better, bigger display and better chipset than the 7A. Obviously, the higher spec'd phone targets a costlier price range.
Nevertheless, Xiaomi has been known to spring surprises and launch new product streams from time to time. So we'll have to wait and see what the Redmi 8A Pro has to offer.
