All Verizon branded Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge devices should begin to see the anticipated Android Marshmallow update hit their devices over the next few days, in the USA.
But that's not all – included in this build of Android 6.0.1 is also the security patch dated April 2, 2016. Monthly security updates were promised as part of a regular security patching policy adopted by Google ever since the Stagefright vulnerability went public.

Google gives OEM's access to the monthly security updates around 30 days before it is announced, at the beginning of the month, and it seems Samsung took the opportunity to just bundle the security patch into the Android Marshmallow rollout.
However, what this means is that the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are now more secure, in terms of patched security vulnerabilities closed by this patch, than the newly released Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge… and even the Nexus 6P, which typically tends to get these security patches first.
To check if your Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge has the Android Marshmallow update available, head into "Settings", then "About Device", followed by "Software Update"; go ahead and click that "Update Now" button and see if you're prompted to download an update. Alternatively, a push notification will automatically prompt you as and when your device is eligible.
