Hurricane Harvey is said to be the strongest hurricane in the US since Charley in 2004, and it's already claimed eight lives in Texas. In situations like this, staying connected is paramount, and that's why Google is offering eligible Project Fi customers automatic $20 service credits. As the company explains on Reddit, as long as your billing zip code is one of the impacted areas, you should see it applied to your account over the next few days:

For those of you whose indicated billing zip codes are part of impacted areas, we'll be automatically applying a $20 service credit to your account over the next few days. If you have any other questions or concerns, please know that our support teams stand ready to help and can be reached by dialing 611.

As you may already know, Google isn't the only company to offer free cellular and data services to areas hit by Hurricane Harvey. Verizon is offering 3 GB of extra data to qualified Texas counties, T-Mobile and Sprint have waived calling and texting fees for those in select areas in Texas and Louisiana, and AT&T says that it will issue credits to wireless customers in impacted areas for additional data, voice, and text charges.

With Hurricane Harvey still at full force in areas like Galveston and Houston, every little help from companies like Google will prove to be important. If you are a Project Fi user, check your email for more details, and most of all, stay safe.
