Samsung Galaxy A90 5G launched: A 5G flagship for less than $800

The Samsung Galaxy A90 5GSamsung

We saw the Samsung Galaxy A90 5G leak once again this week, but the Korean manufacturer has now made the phone official.

True to the leaks, the Galaxy A90 5G offers a 6.7-inch FHD+ OLED screen with a waterdrop notch, and a Snapdragon 855 processor with an X50 5G modem. Toss in between 6GB and 8GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage and you're looking at a very powerful smartphone here.

Samsung is putting that power to good use by implementing Dex on a Galaxy A-series phone for the first time. Otherwise, you're also getting a pre-installed version of Microsoft's Your Phone app.

The new phone also sports a 4,500mAh battery with 25 watt fast charging. And with 5G support in tow (sub-6Ghz), a bigger battery is always welcome at this stage.

Need a great photography platform? Then the Samsung Galaxy A90 5G seems to tick quite a few boxes, offering a triple rear camera setup on the back and a 32MP selfie camera on the front. The triple camera setup consists of a 48MP f/2.0 lens, an 8MP ultra-wide (123 degrees) shooter, and a 5MP depth sensor.

Other noteworthy specs include an in-display fingerprint sensor, and camera-based face unlock. We can't quite tell if there's a 3.5mm port on board here, but previous leaks noted USB-C connectivity.

Editor's Pick

The Samsung Galaxy A90 5G will launch in Korea tomorrow (September 4), before hitting more markets "thereafter." Samsung didn't give more availability details regarding these markets.

As for pricing? A machine-translated version of the Korean-language press release pegs the price at 899,800 won (~$740). This is cheaper than most other 5G smartphones out there, save for the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G.

We've contacted Samsung for more details regarding other launch markets. We'll update the article as soon as they get back to us.
