We've seen a couple of smartphones with two displays in the last 12 months, and consumers in the West will soon be able to buy one and see what all the fuss is about.
Nubia has announced that the Nubia Z20 will receive a global launch on October 14, and it's a beast of a device upon closer inspection.
The Chinese brand's dual screen phone packs a Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and a 4,000mAh battery with 27W wired charging. In other words, you're looking at flagship-level power all around.
Why would you want a rear display?
But the main selling point is that you've got a screen on either side of the device, featuring a 6.42-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen on the front and a fully functional 5.1-inch HD+ AMOLED screen on the back. This means you can take selfies while still seeing yourself in the rear screen. Nubia says you can also map virtual keys to the rear screen when playing games.
The Nubia Z20 doesn't have front-facing cameras though, as you may have guessed. Instead, you've got a triple camera trio consisting of a 48MP OIS-enabled main camera, 16MP ultra-wide lens, and an 8MP 3x telephoto sensor.
The brand has also slapped two side-mounted fingerprint scanners on the device (one on either side), as well as Active Edge squeezing akin to the Pixel series.
The Nubia Z20 will be available globally via nubia.com in Twilight Blue and Diamond Black. There's no word on pricing, but the 8GB/128GB variant retails for 3,699 yuan (~$519) in China. So we'd expect slightly higher pricing at best for the global version.
