Update, June 28, 2019 (04:10 PM ET): We received word from OnePlus explaining the new pricing updates for Canadian versions of the OnePlus 7 Pro.
OnePlus says that these are permanent price changes, meaning that this is not a temporary sale. Furthermore, if you purchased a 7 Pro from OnePlus.com between 10:00 AM ET on May 17, 2019, and today, you are eligible for a $100 CAD credit. OnePlus is already emailing folks to whom this credit applies, so be on the lookout.
OnePlus did not give any explanation as to why the prices have dropped. We can only speculate that it's to bring them more in line with pricing in other countries, especially here in the U.S.
Original article, June 28, 2019 (03:21 PM ET): Over at the Canadian portal of OnePlus.com, you can now grab a OnePlus 7 Pro for much cheaper than before (via Mobile Syrup).
The starting price of the 7 Pro at launch was $999 CAD (~$763). Now, it is $899 CAD (~$687). This brings the price of the device much more in line with U.S. pricing, where the device starts at $669.
What's more, this drop in price for Canadians reflects across the entire OnePlus 7 Pro line. The new prices breakdown like this:
- 6GB/128GB — Mirror Gray — $899 CAD
- 8GB/256GB — Mirror Gray — $939 CAD
- 8GB/256GB — Nebula Blue — $939 CAD
- 8GB/256GB — Almond — $939 CAD
- 12GB/256GB — Nebula Blue — $1,009 CAD
As of right now, these do not appear to be sale prices. Usually, when OnePlus temporarily drops its prices, it features the original price with a strikethrough mark and then the new price. These prices are not arranged in this fashion, so it leads us to believe these are the new prices going forward.
If that's the case, it's not clear why OnePlus dropped the price. We reached out to the company for a statement and will update this article should we hear back.
Regardless of the reasoning, if you live in Canada and want to grab the OnePlus 7 Pro, now is the time!
