According to a report from SamMobile today, the outlet acquired pictures of what is reportedly the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2. Samsung launched the original Galaxy Watch Active in March 2019.
The Active 2 will reportedly launch in two sizes: 40mm and 44mm. By comparison, the original Active is only available in the 40mm size. Unfortunately, the rotating bezel of previous Samsung Gear smartwatches and the current Galaxy Watch will reportedly not show up again.
With the rotating bezel reportedly absent, the Active 2 seemingly looks similar to the original Active. Some differences include the round home and power button, rectangular back button, and a circular rim around the rear-mounted heart rate sensor.
The pictures also show a microphone between the home and back buttons on the right, along with what could be speaker grills on the left. That means you could possibly make and receive calls with the Galaxy Watch Active 2. Adding credence to the phone call feature is an alleged LTE variant, with a Wi-Fi-only variant reportedly also in the works.
Both variants will reportedly run version 1.5 of One UI. Existing Samsung smartwatches are on version 1.0, so we could also hear about new features with version 1.5. Finally, battery size might differ: 340mAh for the LTE variant, and 237mAh for the Wi-Fi variant.
Take all of this with a grain of salt. That said, if Samsung were to launch a Galaxy Watch Active 2, it might do so alongside the Galaxy Note 10 later this summer.
