HMD Global has announced the rollout of Android 9 Pie for the Nokia 7 plus. The Nokia 7 plus is one of the first few smartphones to get the stable Android Pie update already, and packs in Android One exclusive features as well.
As part of the Android One program, the Nokia 7 plus has only the most essential apps loaded with no bloatware or UI skins. Android 9 Pie puts AI and machine learning at the core of the operating system with an added focus on intelligence simplicity and digital wellbeing.
As part of the Android One family, the Nokia 7 plus will introduce App Actions – a new feature unique to Android One devices and Google Pixel phones running Android 9 Pie. App Actions learns more about your daily usage and assists you with your everyday tasks. The smartphone will predict and recommend your next action at the moment it's needed the most.
There's also Adaptive Battery now that uses deep learning to understand patterns in phone usage and prioritizes battery power for your favorite apps. The Android Pie update also brings gesture-based navigation which features a single home button for system navigation. The new Camera app v9.0 comes with a new UI as well as Google Lens and Google Motion integration.
The Digital Wellbeing features that help encourage you to take breaks from screen time will be available starting fall 2018, expectedly after the launch of Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL.
The Android 9 Pie update for the Nokia 7 plus is already available and is about 1.4GB, so make sure you are on a good Wi-Fi to get it going. Tell us in the comments how it goes for you!
